It's too bad George Orwell isn't around today. He could write a sequel
to “1984” where Winston Smith regains his senses and his independence
and actually triumphs over Big Brother. Or maybe an update of his
seminal essay "Politics and the English Language." Political rhetoric
in our country has become totally vapid and meaningless. Right now we
could all use a little more hope about the world.
