The Supreme Court heard oral arguments today on the case of Shelby County vs. Holder, a challenge from my own county to the Voting Rights Act of 1965. I am fearful that the Court will gut this historic law, which open the floodgates on renewed voter suppression.
Sequestration, automatic indiscriminate budget cuts, will likely go into effect Friday. I guess we'll see what the effects are.
This country is in the process of reversing decades of progress.
