Michael Skotnicki - Auburn's Unclaimed National Championships

The author of this slim book (which also serves as a brief history of Auburn football)  asserts that Auburn should lay claim to 7 more football national championships in addition to 1957 and 2010 that it has so far failed to do.  He makes the case that the Tigers deserve to claim national championships in 1910, 1913, 1914, 1958, 1983, 1993, and 2004.

The NCAA does not officially recognize a football national championship.  Over the years and now including the infamous BCS, various organizations and people have selected "national champions."  Some institutions, most notably the U of Alabama, claim a NC when ANY person or group recognizes one of their teams as such.  So you have UAT claiming national championships back in the past when any magazine or group or person gives them that honor.  By Alabama's standards, Auburn could lay claim to 7 more NCs.

The book makes the case that Auburn SHOULD lay claim to 7 more national championship.  Should Auburn do so?  Other schools have done so.  Or should Auburn have higher standards and not play UAT's silly game?

Good question this book raises!  See what you think after reading this book.
