It gets harder to KNOW anything for sure in our time with AI, the internet, revival of the irrational, Fox News, etc, but I had rather know with its discomfort and confusion than not know, but sometimes we choose not to know, right or wrong.  

I was talking to an academic department head once and I asked him, "I assume if something illicit were going on in your department you'd want to know about it."

His answer surprised me.

"No, I'd rather NOT know because if I know I'd have to do something about it," he responded.

Good point.
