Scholarly Bible study is one of my intellectual interests, but I can only go so deep since I do not have the background, expertise, and access to the literature to thoroughly research a topic. Therefore, I have to pick my topics carefully. My task is to ask only important questions and seek scholarly opinions.
NT scholars generally agree that Paul wrote 1 Thessalonians and that this was the first book (letter from Paul) to be included in the NT. The question is: Did Paul also write 2 Thessalonians as the text claims he did?
Most scholars think not since since the two letters seem to contradict each other. I go with the dominant scholatly thinking. This is as far as a can go.
