Blood Sport

Admittedly well-intentioned people who complain about today's "blood sport" politics amuse me. I would laugh in their faces if necessary.
Such naifs are supremely ignorant of American history. This country was founded on blood politics. The most vicious blood politics took place at the beginning in the 1790's as the country was just getting started. Read up on the "Federalist Era." Your naiveté will melt away. Even the Father of his Country was verbally tarred and feathered by the end of his second term. Burr and Hamilton had a duel to the death if you will recall. Lincoln was shot in the back of his head by a Confederate. TR took a bullet in his chest but finished his speech before submitting to medical attention. And on and on.
If you can't stand the "blood,"then go to your room and crochet or play Scrabble. Words are not just for games.
We are busy debating our future and what kind of country we want to live in. We are debating our most sacred principles and there is huge disagreement.
We've had out together moments and agreements as good Americans which we all should be, BUT yes, we are divided and polarized today and politics is a blood sport if you take it seriously. Sorry, but it is what it is because of what is at stake.
