Peter Onuf holds "The Jefferson Chair" at UVA. Before him there was Merrill Peterson and Dumas Malone. Hence, a long line of distinguished Jeffersonian scholars. But if this work is any indication, Onuf is boring. The book focuses on the Jefferson's democratic so-called political philosophy. Onuf is one Jefferson scholar you have to be aware of, but he is not my cup of tea.
