Willie Morris - North Toward Home (2)

So far (I've reached #7 p. 91 in the Mississippi Part One)I am stunned by this book. I see that it was published in 1967. If Willie Morris were writing in 2010, would he be this frank? Consider #6. The stories of cruelty to African-Americans is unbelievable to me. This was certainly not my experience growing up in a small town in Alabama in the 60's.
