The truth is that the former slave states have never accepted the outcome of the Civil War. Today's Republican Party is direct evidence of this fact. It began with the actions of Lee and Davis after the war. The actions of Lee and Davis et. al after Appomattox continues today with trump and McConnell et. al. Appomattox is not over.
