The title says it all: Democrats are right and Republicans are wrong. Carville surveys Republican positions on the issues since Reagan with those of the Democrat and proves that we are right. It's an easy judgement to make if you know the issues and acknowledge facts. The problem is that Republicans do not recognize facts. Their ideology is their reality and their ideology is fallacious.
Trump has presided over the death of the Republican Party as we know it. P. xvi
Trump succeeded because the Republican Party has failed. P. xvii
Look at all of the ridiculous things Republicans told us over the last 16 years:
-Saddam had weapons of mass destruction
-Iraqis were going to treat us as liberators
-The Bush did a heckuva job during Katrina
-The Bush tax cuts that favored the rich would lead to prosperity for all
-The fundamentals of the economy were strong before the crash of '08.
-Obamacare was doing to wreck the economy.
-The Obama administration would wreck the economy.
-We were all going to catch Ebola and die.
Wrong, wrong, wrong!
Our problem is that people ignore evidence. Tough to overcome. P. 16
To win in November Democrats must rally the troops. P. 19
A common answer used to be the middle. The parties should compromise and meet in the middle. Those days are over for now. There is no middle currently. Democrats are right and Republicans are wrong. p. 20
The evidence shows conclusively that the economy has grown more under Democratic than Republican presidents. P. 30
Republicans will never stop their pursuit of voodoo economics. Their solution to every problem in this country is to cut taxes for the rich and let the supposed benefits trickle down to the rest of us. It has never worked and never will work except for the 1% who get the only benefits.
"Here's the bottom line: After thirty years of testing supply side economics, there's simply no correlation between tax cuts for wealthy Americans and economic growth. There's even less evidence that raising top rates hurts the economy." P. 43
What's happened in Kansas proves it. P. 44
The stimulus worked! P. 56
Paul Ryan's economic plan is a cruel joke. P. 71
The term "snake oil" came from the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago and a man named Clark Stanley. There are suckers like Republicans everywhere. P. 74
America isn't what it used to be. Thanks goodness! P. 82
Democrats know that economic inequality is getting worse. Republicans know it also, but they don't care. P. 87
Anything involving the Clintons is not true. P. 176
The Benghazi hearings were about driving Hillary's poll numbers down and nothing less. P. 180
As the presidential campaign continues it seems that Carville could update his book daily. As long as Hillary is with us, it will never end.
Carville's view is that we have to wear the Republicans down with facts. In the long run we will win. But how long is the long view? What if Trump wins?
I wish I could hear Carville speak. I think I would be hooping and hollering.
