Divergent

This is a perfect summer movie.  Even though it's science fiction, and I generally don't like sci fi, this one is okay for there are few special effects.  It's a good science fiction story taking place after "the war" when the whole country seems to be one city surrounded by high walls.  That city though not stated is obviously Chicago for in the opening sequence you see the Sears tower, the dried up Chicago River, and the Tribune building.  To keep the peace and maintain control everybody is divided into 5 factions.  Each young person is born into the faction of their parents but they eventually get to choose their faction led by a test that is supposed to guide them in their choice.  Some people don't fit into a faction according the test; these people are called divergents; hence our story.  Kate Winslett plays the science fiction version of the Big Bad Witch and she really knows to play the evil part.  The actress who plays "Tris" though steals the show.  The plot kept my attention, it was fun, and I can walk away without having to think about it.  I'm sure there's a moral in here somewhere but I am still not going to think about it
