The Country is Divided

So what else is new?  This country began divided and it has never ended.  The country was split during the Federalist era of the 1790's right off the bat between the Jeffersonians and the Hamiltonians.  After the so-called Era of Good Feelings we had the build-up to and then the most division of all with the Civil War.  The Confederates have morphed into today's Republican Party.  After the war as inequality skyrocketed we had the Progressive Era  and constant labor strife which split the country.   FDR's New Deal was certainly divisive. Rich folks didn't much like Roosevelt!  Letting rich folks run the country is the American way they yelled.   A traitor to his class they called him.   We had the McCarthy era of the 50's which created Richard Nixon,  and then came the civil rights movement and Viet Nam.  The country has always been divided and always will be.
