On the Waterfront

TCM (Turner Classic Movies) is bringing old movies back to the big screen.  Today I saw "On the Waterfront" at Patton Creek.

It's fun to see those old black and white movies.  It's fun to see the legendary Marlon Brando in his youth.  This was the first movie for Eva Marie Saint.  Both Brando and Saint won best actor Oscars.  Lee J. Cobb, Karl Malden, and Rod Steiger were nominated but did not win.

It's a great story particular for its time in the 50's centering around corruption in a longshoreman's union.  Directed by Elia Kazan, one of the great directors of all time.

The music is over done.  It's a melodrama like many of those old pictures. I guess the music was the only thing I didn't like.
