WAKE UP CALL
We're looking at that in today's Wake Up Call.
Nationally, about 55 percent of first-time undergraduates who began school in the fall of 2008 finished a degree within six years. In Alabama, 50 percent finished their degree within six years, but only 26 percent earned their diploma in four.
So where do Alabama's universities rate? Here's the list of public university graduation rates based on students who complete a degree in six years (I know parents - We'd all like four years, but we will give them a break.)
The information covers the 2013 school year and comes from The Chronicle of Higher Education:
- Auburn University – 67.9 percent
- University of Alabama – 66.7 percent
- University of Alabama at Birmingham – 53.5 percent
- University of Alabama at Huntsville - 48.4 percent
- University of Montevallo – 44.9 percent
- Troy University – 35.5 percent
- University of South Alabama – 33.2 percent
- University of North Alabama – 32.2 percent
- Jacksonville State University – 30.8 percent
- University of West Alabama – 29.8 percent
- Alabama A&M University – 29.1 percent
- Auburn University at Montgomery – 27.1 percent
- Alabama State University – 25.2 percent
1 comment:
The rates aren't impressive, but at least Auburn leads.
