Billy Martin (2)

Billy Martin reached his highest point as a Yankee player in the final game of the 1956 World Series as the Bronx Bombers beat the Dodgers 9 to 0 to claim yet another world championship.  He did not know at the time but his dream of playing for the Yankees would reach its climax here.  By June 15th of the next season he would be traded to Kansas City.  GM George Weiss did not like Billy and his supposed bad influence on Mantle and the image of the Yankees.  All of us have various last hurrahs throughout our lives.  Sometimes we never know when one has happened until it's over.
