On September 15, 1963, a bomb went off at the 16 St. Baptist Church in Birmingham. Four young girls were killed. This is one of the tragic and seminal events in the history of civil rights in this country. Sadly, I do not remember the incident. I was 15 years old and you'd think I would remember it but I don't. There was no internet then and the only news came from the Birmingham News and Birmingham TV. I'm sure the tragedy was downplayed in those news outlets. I remember it today. How sad.
