I would personally not read Ayn Rand out of principle. She is the political patron saint of Republican libertarianism, which I completely oppose. She champions limited government and individual selfishness, denying the common good, as the best way to organize society. As far as I'm concerned from what I've read about her, she's a Sarah Palin-type whack job. In one of her books the hero is a so-called free market libertarian named John Gault. For a time in the 60's there was a popular slogan:Who is John Gault? Rand is the originator.

Well, it was the choice for a book club of which I am a member. It will be discussed in June, as well as May. So I will not go again until July.
