Split (Movie Review)

I wanted to see this movie because it's by the director of "The Sixth Sense."   I keep thinking that Mr. Night will give us something comparable, but I am disappointed.

A man with a split personality of 23 kidnaps 3 teenage girls and imprisons them.  The narrative goes back and forth between the perp and his interactions with his psychiatrist and one of the kidnapped girls who was molested as a child.

The movie raises the possibility that a split personality, which is rare from what I remember, might be some higher level of consciousness as if one of the split personalities might see and know things the rest of us normal people don't see.   I think this is nonsense.

Part of the tension is the belief of the perp that there is a yet unseen personality called The Beast.  Does the beast show up?  See the movie and find out.

A twist was promised at the end, and there is one, a cute back reference to "The Sixth Sense."  Director Night is trying so hard.  Perhaps one day he might succeed.
