Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy---The Movie

Having tried three times to read the book and not being able to finish it, I was glad to see the movie. Spy novels are not my forte. I finally decided that in the book the densely layered plot wasn't worth my struggle to finish it. Overall the movie is pretty good.

The movie is completely plot driven with no special effects and minimal music. Hurray!

I already knew who the mole was so the ending was anti-climactic. Still I enjoyed it.

In retrospect I think that the focus of the movie is on the character of George Smiley. It is this character study that stands out more than the plot. Gary Oldham should secure an Oscar nomination.
