Islamic Center Near Ground Zero

Is building an Islamic community center two blocks from the former site of the twin towers insensitive? I don't know.

I don't think so. Christianity has many different sects and oddball churches. If one of those churches did something horrible (which they have), we don't think all Christian denominations are bad.

That man called David something in Waco, Texas who caused the death of all those people, he called himself a Christian. Still, I bet you could build a Christian church right where it happened and no one would care.

Some of my confusion on Islam is; does the Koran teach love (as some claim), or hate (as some claim)? And how many Muslims hate people who aren't Muslims? It looks to me as if there are very few who hate. The trouble is, the ones who do hate are vocal and violent.

After 9/11 I expected buses to be bombed in the big cities of the West where there were large communities of Muslims. It didn't happen, so I think most Muslims are peaceful, good people who should be able to build a mosque anywhere they want.

Good and lucid post. It is truly impossible to really understand another religion like Islam unless you understand it from the inside or know somebody within that faith.
